The Red Bull Pump Track World Championship touched down in the UK this past weekend and Wishaw, North Lanarkshire smashed it with Mark Ducat and Dagmara Polakova taking the win again in a strong field of BMX and MTB riders with amazing crowd support

The small suburb of Wishawhill located northeast of the city of the Glasgow played host to the UK Qualifier of the series with its 240m long Velosolutions Pump Track this past Saturday. Super weather and great crowd support set the tone for a brilliant day of pump track racing with a strong field of BMX and MTB riders.

Mark Ducat was the youngest rider to compete in the World Final in 2018 and the 17-year-old local from Glasgow did it in fine form again to secure his place in Switzerland this time on a 26# hardtail. From a BMX freestyle background, Mark now sponsored by Velosolutions was unbeatable on the day and held onto the top spot from qualification rounds.

She raced BMX for over 15 years and represented Slovakia in many high profile races around the world with a slew of medals and titles to her name including World Champion, 4 x Champion, Overall World Cup Winner in Elite Women. Having relocated to Scotland 12 years ago she recently moved to Glasgow and is now a BMX coach and one of the coaches at the Wishaw Pump Track, all that experience paid off on this day to win her ticket to the World Final.

With riders ranging from a whopping 17 to 55 in age and from as far afield as Switzerland –  Scotland, you did not disappoint for the UK Qualifier of the 2019 series – we can’t wait to be back next year!
