Australia kicks off 2020!

Bodi Turner celebrates with his brother Wade Turner on their collective places in Mt Gambier

Mt Gambier rocked it as we kicked off with the first qualifier of the new season in Australia this past weekend. Great crowds, super weather all played a part along with some great riding on the brand new Velosolutions Pump Track to set the perfect tone for 2020.

Wade Turner on track in Australia

It was the clash of the brothers as 25-year-old, Bodi Turner and his 22-year-old younger sibling, Wade Turner battled it out to take home that World Final ticket. Bodi represented Australia in the Rio Olympics 2016 in BMX and has numerous achievements under the belt including a 6th in the world for Elite men in 2017 and Wold Cup silver medal for Elite men in 2015, but it was his younger brother that shaved off a tenth of a second to take the podium win for the Australian Qualifier.

It was a stacked field in the Men’s category with a multitude of titles and podium wins between the top 4 – Max Cairns took the 3rd place with 18-year-old Matt Tidswell in 4th.

After some tight racing, the Women’s category saw Marnie Williams take the win over young Jemma Heraper. Jemma crashed out on the last turn in her final run and was unfortunately disqualified for not finishing her run, giving Marnie the lead to secure her place to the Final next year.
