A win for the Mountain Kingdom – Khothalang Leuta becomes the first female rider to represent Lesotho at Worlds
The first female winner from the Mountain Kingdom, Kothalang Leuta took the podium along with last year’s winner, Mohapi Mosito at the 3rd Qualifier in Lesotho at the Velosolutions Pump Track at Roma Trading Post securing her place at the World Final in Leogang, Austria in September.
It was a close day of racing in the Men’s Division with the top 4 riders all laying down times below the 19-sec mark consistently. Mosito Mohapi battled fiercely with Kopano Matobo throughout the day but a consistent time of 18.26 saw him take the first place for the second time after Kopano’s final run of 18.50.
Khothalang Leuta dominated in the Women’s Division with 20.46 seeing her through to her first win in a Red Bull UCI Pump Track World Championships Qualifier. Second-placed Lieketseng Ralefifi came the closest with a time of 22.20.
With the first top 4 across both categories for Lesotho riders and two riders representing at the World Final in September, the future is indeed very bright. ⠀
